Joan Bottorff
PhD, RN


Dr. Bottorff is a Professor and CIHR Investigator at the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia and Co-Principal Investigator at the Nursing and Health Behaviour Research (NAHBR) Unit. Dr. Bottorrff is also an Affiliate Scientist with BC Cancer Agency. Her research program focuses on health promotion and health behaviour change in the context of cancer control. A major component of her program focuses on tobacco dependence and smoking cessation. She has projects involving partnerships with clinicians in hospitals and community settings. Her current research interests are tobacco reduction during pregnancy and postpartum, adolescent smoking, smoking cessation, women's health and risk perceptions and healthcare interactions. Dr. Bottorrff teaches qualitative research methods to graduate students and has supervised Master and Doctoral students in Nursing and Interdisciplinary studies.
