Core Course in Gender, Women and Addictions Research The core course provides trainees/fellows with a comprehensive theoretical foundation in gender, women and addictions research. Assigned readings complemented by lectures, student presentations, group discussions and laboratory demonstrations cover:
  • Neurobiology and genetics of addiction
  • Gender analysis and sex differences in addiction and treatment, including the mechanisms of drug effects
  • Impact of social, cultural, environmental determinants, including life events of addiction in girls and women
  • Theories of addiction and related methodological issues
  • Co-morbidity and research methodologies for studying co-morbidity.
