Core Course in Gender, Women and Addictions Research The core course provides trainees/fellows with a comprehensive theoretical foundation in gender, women and addictions research. Assigned readings complemented by lectures, student presentations, group discussions and laboratory demonstrations cover:
- Neurobiology and genetics of addiction
- Gender analysis and sex differences in addiction and treatment, including the mechanisms of drug effects
- Impact of social, cultural, environmental determinants, including life events of addiction in girls and women
- Theories of addiction and related methodological issues
- Co-morbidity and research methodologies for studying co-morbidity.
