Mentors
The multidisciplinary Mentoring Team is comprised of academic researchers and scientists from Nursing, Sociology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Medicine and Epidemiology. Key Mentors develop and deliver the core courses of the curriculum and co-lead the research seminar on gender, women and addictions research.
The Mentors supervise and mentor trainees for the duration of their involvement in IMPART, including supervising research projects.

Dr. Benoit is a Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Victoria and Scientist at the Centre for Addictions Research of BC. -
Gillian Einstein, PhD
Dr. Einstein is a neuroscientist at the University of Toronto working primarily in the fields of neurodegenerative disease, cognitive neuroscience and sex-based biology. -
Catherine Goldie, PhD, RN
Dr. Goldie is a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and an adjunct professor at Queen’s University School of Nursing. -
Lorraine Greaves, PhD, DU
Dr. Greaves is an Investigator at the British Columbia Centre of Excellence for Women's Health in Vancouver, BC, Canada. -
Colleen MacQuarrie, PhD
Dr. MacQuarrie is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Prince Edward Island. Her feminist action research program is directed to better understand the multidetermined nature of health and wellness across the lifespan and within diverse community settings. -
Robin Mason, PhD
Dr. Mason is a Research Scientist at Women’s College Hospital in the Violence and Health Research Program and is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. -
Roisin O'Connor, PhD
Dr. O’Connor is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Concordia University. She is a member of the Centre for Clinical Research in Health (CCRH) and on the executive board of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) Section on Addiction Psychology. -
Bernadette Pauly, PhD
Dr. Pauly is an Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria. -
Chris Richardson, PhD
Dr. Richardson is an Associate Professor at the School of Population and Public Health at the University of British Columbia. -
Peter Selby, MD
Dr. Selby is the Clinical Director of the Addictions Program and Head of the Nicotine Dependence Clinic at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH). He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto. -
Christy Sutherland, MD (community collaborator)
Dr. Sutherland is a family doctor with a focus on addiction medicine. She works in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside providing clinical care within a harm reduction model. -
Zahcary Walsh, PhD
Dr. Walsh is an Assistant Professor in the UBC-O Department of Psychology and Co-Director for the Centre for the Advancement of Psychological Science and Law. -
Joanne Weinberg, PhD
Dr. Weinberg is a Distinguished University Scholar and Professor in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences, an Associate Member of the Department of Psychology and a member of the Brain Research Centre and Graduate Program in Neuroscience at UBC.
